No Tadej Pogacar for Vuelta a Espana, UAE Team Emirates say

Tadej Pogacar has made his Grand Tour debut back in 2019 at the Vuelta a Espana where he achieved tremendous success and built on his Tour de France runs. His return however is unlikely to be this summer, the team says.

Daniel Benson of GCN is in France and reportedly has been told by UAE Team Emirates that Pogacar would not be riding the Vuelta a Espana afterwards. Most likely the Slovenian will ride the World Championships in Glasgow in the first week of August and then focus on his late-season goals as is the case with Il Lombardia.

Pogacar was likely to race the Vuelta a Espana last year but his second place at the Tour led him to reconsider and instead chase other goals. It could be possible that for the same reason this year the Vuelta will miss out on the return of one of cycling's biggest stars.
