The retirement of Nairo Quintana has not come as a big surprise. The news that have surfaced from Colombia this Monday were not the best for the former Grand Tour winner, who will be talking to the press this Wednesday morning.
Nairo Quintana will host a press conference this Wednesday at 9am Colombian time, 15:00CET in Central Europe. He will be in Bogotá after an unsuccessful trip to Europe where he looked to salvage his pro career with a late signing.
Team Corratec and Israel - Premier Tech were his final opportunities to remain in the peloton in the 2023 season, but with no transfer in sight and a very complicated situation, retirement has been the path taken for the Colombian.
The colleagues from the newspaper AS have contacted the manager of the rider, Luisa Fernanda Ríos, who has neither denied nor confirmed that the rider is going to retire, leaving everything open for the press conference that the cyclist is going to adress "everything that has been speculated and the real and current situation."
