Nairo Quintana returns to Europe, transfer remains possible

Nairo Quintana remains a mystery. Unlike his compatriot Miguel Ángel López, the Colombian has not yet signed a contract, and as most of the peloton start their season, Quintana may be on his way to sign a contract soon.

The Colombian is flying to Europe. Wielerflits report that it is with the intent of signing a contract however it is unknown where that would be. For the last few months his future in pro cycling has been at risk, and it has been claimed that teams were threatened with absence from the Tour de France if he were to be signed by them.

Several teams seemed to fit the size, however all have at some point denied signing the Colombian. Where he may continue his career - if at all - hence continues to be a big question. Following his positive tests for Tramadol at the Tour de France he's lost his expected deal with Arkéa Samsic and found himself in a position where few teams dared to establish contact.

Gazzetta dello Sport's Ciro Scognamiglio reported that there have been talks between Quintana and new ProTeam Team Corratec, however the chance of a transfer aren't high.
