Árkea Samsic have announced their lineup for the Tour de France, and all team leaders will be present at the Grand Boucle as the Pro Team has essentially secured it's World Tour presence in 2023 and doesn't need to focus on UCI points.
Nairo Quintana will be, as expected, leading the team into the French Grand Tour with high ambitions of returning to the level he's had in the past. He'll be looking for stage wins but very likely aiming at the overall classification aswell. Despite the absence of Nicolas Edet surprisingly, the team has brought in a more stage-win focused lineup, with less support for Quintana but more breakaway cards.
Warren Barguil as an example, having won a stage at Tirreno-Adriatico and had a strong classics period he was an obvious pick. Maxime Bouet will be the Colombian's main designated support in the mountains. The team has put a lot of effort in having the riders to protect Quintana in the opening week, with Lukasz Owsian and Connor Swift set to play crucial roles, and Matis Louvel having similar a similar role, besides the assistance in the sprints.
That is where the team surprised as both Hugo Hofstetter and Amaury Capiot will be at the start, clearly hinting at the team's presence in the sprints, specially those in the hillier stages. It's set to be a combative lineup, very focused on breakaways in the hilly stages where it has plenty cards to play, whilst Quintana will be riding with the climbers in the mountains without pressure to have the team work.
Team Arkéa Samsic: Nairo Quintana, Warren Barguil, Maxime Bouet, Amaury Capiot, Hugo Hofstetter, Matis Louvel, Lukasz Owsian and Connor Swift.
