everyone starts a grand tour incredibly motivated. I think very few riders come in nonchalant not caring about their role or if their team wins. he isn’t winning due to motivation alone. he is winning due to great teamwork and great form.

Jonas might have luck on his side this year, but it only makes up for a couple rough years of bad crashes. it is part of the sport, not even sure why Horner comments on this.

Tadej would have dropped the group and won the stage. Jonas was not able to do so. big difference. there is wanting to take ahold and being able to.

I'm pretty stoked to see who gets into the top five/podium given how wide open the field is under the overwhelming favourite. It should make for a really entertaining battle, even if Jonas (presumably) is locked into first place.

Perhaps, but a day of not riding, being exposed to germs is worse than another day in the saddle. Riders often say a day off isn't good cuz their rhythm is disrupted. I'm sure he'd rather have been riding all day.

The problem that is that Red Bull's 2nd tier has a still competitive former Grand Tour winner and Italian cycling's most exciting figure. Hindley and Pellizzari are better than most of the other teams' 1st tier riders
