Nacer Bouhanni thinking of hanging up his bike after the season

Is Nacer Bouhanni in his last season as a professional cyclist? According to L'Équipe, the French sprinter is thinking of hanging up his bike after the current season. Arkéa-Samsic, which will be called Arkéa-B&B Hotels from next year, seem to already have a replacement in mind. Arnaud Démare is reported to be close to a move to the French team.

Bouhanni has been thorugh some tough years, going from one injury to another, only stacking up 42 race days over last 18 months. The 32-year old's last win dates back to March 2022, when Bouhanni won small French one-day race La Roue Tourangelle (1.1).

"Madiot came to me and said: we can't keep you. That was it. Did I want to stay? I would have liked to have the choice. I felt that there was less and less ambition within the team to invest in a sprint train, but I've been here for so long. I thought I meant more to this team," Démare recently told L'Équipe.
