Jury & Fines Tour de France 2023 stage 4 - Mathieu van der Poel relegated after dangerous sprint

Jury & Fines. Stage 4 of the Tour de France saw an hectic finale with several crashes bringing down sprinters and their leadout, with Jasper Philipsen thriving in the confusion and taking the win. After bumping Biniam Girmay however, his leadout man Mathieu van der Poel was relegated.

The jury have taken the following decisions on stage 4:

Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin - Deceuninck) - Deviation from line during the final sprint. 500CHF and 13 UCI points fine, relegation to last place in his group.

Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain - Victorious) - Obstruction of a rider likely to delay or prevent the progress (1.8Km to the finish). 500CHF fine, penalization of 50 points in points classification and 30 second penalty in overall classification.
