Trek-Segafredo's 30-year-old Luxembourgian, Alex Kirsch is confident he's coming into the peak of his career after a positive 2022 season. "The 2022 season made me open my eyes. My best years are starting now."
Firmly establishing himself as a key component in Mads Pedersen's sprint train over the past season, Kirsch admits he is delighted by his progress. "The 2022 season was a very important year. When I went to the World Tour, I wanted to achieve this type of season. Being present on the Classics, road captain and pilot fish on the biggest races. I got there, season after season. I achieved this goal," he tells Quotidien.Lu
"I still hope to improve," the former two-time runner-up at the Luxembourg national road race continues. "I would like to be able to fully concentrate on the four seasons to come. I see myself concentrating less on development, but achieve more good performances."
Despite having not yet achieved a race win in his professional career, Kirsch probably came as close as he ever had at Paris-Tours. "At the end of the season, I got caught in the last kilometer of Paris-Tours. I was close to a victory in a very big race. opened my eyes. It's one thing to think you can do it, but it's another thing to be able to do it. The goal I had is achieved, now I have to make things happen."
