Mikel Landa lost some time in the first two stages in the Pyrenees and is eleventh in the general classification. His goal before starting the Tour de France was the podium. His feelings after the tough sixth stage, in statements to his Eurosport teammates, were as follows:
"I have had to suffer again, I paid for the effort the day before when I was empty and it was difficult to recover, already in the Tourmalet I began to feel bad and it was difficult for me to be there."
Regarding the performance of Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar in the first two mountain stages, Mikel is clear that in this Tour we are going to experience two races in one:
"They are above the rest, it is clear that when they both push the rest they don't make it easy for us. As planned, they are going to live 2 races, a race for the Tour de France between them and a race for the last place on the podium between the rest."
The Bahrain - Victorious rider ends by talking about the hardness of the first week and the preparation strategy: "There are people who are one hundred percent from the beginning, at the end of the Tour we will see if it was the best formula or they will end up paying for it, I hope to get better. For one thing or another I have not been as expected and I think I can be better".
