The great favorite to take the final victory, Miguel Angel Lopez, has won the opening prologue of the Vuelta a Colombia.
The Team Medellín - EPM rider won the 7.8 kilometer race held in Yopal with a time of 10 minutes and five seconds. Lopez finished the race 17 seconds ahead of teammate Fabio Duarte and 18 seconds ahead of Colombia Pacto por el Deporte rider Rodrigo Contreras. Completing the top 5 of the stage were Robigzon Oyola (Team Medellín) and Juan Manuel Barboza (Orgullo Paisa).
Up to five riders from Team Medellín finished in the top 10 of the race and seven in the top 12. The first stage, which will also start and finish in Yopal, will be one of the few opportunities that the sprinters will have during the Vuelta a Colombia.
