Riding at the Tour de Suisse today must have been one of the hardest moments in the career of Mattias Skjelmose. Following the news of Gino Mäder's tragic death, the stage was neutralised and as a grieving Skjelmose said a few words to the press, one reporter went out of line.
"It was really weird to be on the bike today and it hit me really hard when I saw only six Bahrain riders going over the line together. That was something really pushing me to the limit emotionally," Skjelmose opened up his interview.
Then as a reporter commented, "You said yesterday, this is bike racing?" Skjelmose understandably took issue. "I'm pretty sure I didn't mean the guy being killed being bike racing," he answered defiantly. "I think that's a really stupid question to ask right now. You're not having any more questions."
