Miguel Ángel López blames the organisation of the Vuelta a Colombia for his defeat on the second stage: "I gave myself up"

Miguel Ángel López's tremendous outburst against the organisation of the Vuelta a Colombia after finishing second in the second stage of the South American round.

López explained that first the organisation ordered the main group to stop and not the escapees, so that they took a bigger lead that Team Medellín - EPM then had to cut back. Later, according to the former Astana rider, the bikes would have signalled 2 km from the finish line that the breakaway had a 40-second lead, something that was not true and that would have caused Superman to get carried away in the sprint and end up losing:

"The organisation stopped the peloton and not the breakaway, they caught us a minute and a bit and that's not fair, then it was hard to catch them, it was very cold at a standstill, it was complicated to start. Trying to catch a few seconds, it was a failure of the judges who put 40 seconds left on the Tablerito with 2 km to go and there was no rider at 40 seconds, finally, Guate passed me over the line, but I kind of gave in a little because I thought there were escapees, but there was no rider ahead."
