Mavi Garcia: "I didn't expect to win today, I almost resigned”

Mavi Garcia won the Classic Lorient Agglomération. She launched the attack a few kilometers before the finish line and maintained the lead till the finish.

“I didn't expect to win today,” said Garcia. Even though her health wasn't in the best shape before the race, she made it to starting line , but she didn't expect to win. “Because during the night, I hadn't felt very well. I tried at least a couple of times to attack the climbs, but I couldn't break away from any of my opponents, and so I was almost resigned,” said Garcia.

Because she wasn't confident in her sprinting abilities, she tried to increase the gap as a way to compensate. “I know that in the sprint, I don't have much of a chance. Instead, with 1.5 kilometers to go, I tried again to attack, Amber Kraak chased me, and we managed to get away. In the sprint, fortunately, the other girl wasn’t very fast either, and I managed to win. I’m almost incredulous but happy. I know I have a very good condition, and I hope to continue like this in the next races,” concluded Garcia.
