Mark Cavendish has suffered on both of the first two stages of the 2023
Tour de France, as they were quite hard and did not suit his characteristics, but the Briton, who hopes to emerge from the Grande Boucle as the most successful stage winner in history, has been left delighted for having been able to experience in first person what it is to ride in the Basque Country.
"It has been incredible, never in my career had I raced in the Basque Country, it has been incredible, in the Pyrenees I have seen Basque fans many times, they are the most incredible in the world. It has been difficult, but it is a beautiful place to shoot with the bike, wonderful for it to have been my last Grand Départ in the Tour de France."
After two difficult first stages, Cavendish hopes to have his first opportunity to overcome Eddy Merckx on Monday's day that ends in Bayonne:
