The much-discussed cobbled stage of the Tour de France was held on Wednesday. Magnus Cort Finished 5th, 30 seconds behind stage winner Simon Clarke.
Magnus kept collecting kilometers in the breakaway while helping his American teammate Neilson Powless in stage victory. He was able to help him in the breakaway, and Neilson tried using it with a surprise sprint attack 1100 meters before the finish line, but his legs gave up in the last few meters of the race, and he finished 4th in the stage.
“I’m a bit sad to miss out on the stage win and the yellow jersey for the team. But I was happy to be in the breakaway with Powless. It was our goal to put Neilson in the break because it was safer to be there. We managed to come close. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the stage win or the yellow jersey but we can be happy with the way we rode. It was a hard and fast day. We went full gas all the way,” said Cort.
