"Lotte once again provided a perfect lead-out" - Lorena Wiebes grateful for Kopecky's support after second straight stage win at UAE Tour Women

Lorena Wiebes made it back-to-back victories at the 2024 UAE Tour Women on Friday afternoon, powering to another impressive sprint victory.

"It was difficult with the final in a straight line," reflects the Team SD Worx - Protime star in her post-stage interview. "It even became dangerous for a moment, because I was close to a big crash and that always makes you think that you have to be careful."

Nevertheless, thanks in part to the immense leadout of her Rainbow Jersey winning teammate, Lotte Kopecky, Wiebes was able to take the win ahead of Chiara Consonni and Clara Coponni in the sprint.

"I started my sprint quite early, but that turned out to be enough in the end," says a relieved Wiebes. "That was because the headwind made it difficult for me to time correctly and because Liv AlUla Jayco passed by with a lot of speed. Fortunately, I had enough support from the team and Lotte once again provided a perfect lead-out."
