Lorena Wiebes on Scheldeprijs win: "We started with a strong team and have shown that we can achieve a strong lead-out"

Scheldeprijs WE came down to a bunch sprint. Continuing her run of success from 2022, Lorena Wiebes has taken the win on the day, outsprinting the competition en route to her fourth triumph of the season.
“I think I came with 150 meters. That was enough to win and that's what it's all about it. I felt her (Charlotte Kool, ed.) coming up on the left, but I'm not a rider to close. I don't take any chances then, but it was fortunate enough. We started with a strong team and have shown that we can achieve a strong lead-out.”
The Belgian race was fitting for the fastest riders. Without her leadout from Team DSM Wiebes has struggled to be as dominant, but here she beat her former teammate Charlotte Kool who has perhaps become her main competitor. The Dutchwoman now eyes Paris-Roubaix, where she will be on team duty: “Lotte Kopecky really wants to win, so I will be happy to support her in that," she concluded.
