Lorena Wiebes: "I think this whole week was a really good team effort and we can be super proud of it"

The Baloise Ladies Tour ended with a thrilling sprint in the final stage on Sunday. Lorena Wiebes earned four stage wins out of six as she secured victory in the final stage.

She finished the final stage with a sprint without much difficulty. She lead an early breakaway with the support of her teammates. “Early in the stage three girls went away, but we were always at the front and controlling things,” said Wiebes.

She has continued dominating the tour and shown her best form before the Tour de France Femmes started. “We really started to chase it down in the last lap and the team did a really good job, with Esmée, Léa, and Francesca. We saved Liane and Pfeiffer for the end, with Liane doing an earlier job to position us before we followed Trek. Pfeiffer then once again did an amazing lead out for me, which made it a lot easier for me to sprint. I think this whole week was a really good team effort and we can be super proud of it,” concluded Wiebes. She missed the overall victory against Ellen van Dijk with 21 seconds and secured the second position in the GC.
