The Intermarché–Circus–Wanty rider,
Kobe Goossens, secured his second win in the
Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, following his first career victory in the Trofeo Andratx the previous day.
"It's incredible," he told Cyclingpronet after the race. "Today, I felt very strong. After the first climb, I got really cold, but my teammates kept saying I was the best uphill rider. After that, I had to finish because they worked very hard for me."
Goossens was undeterred by the unfavourable weather and found a way to make it work in his favour. "I don't really like it, but I'm pretty good at it. I prefer the sun, but when the weather is bad, I always ride well."
He is excited about future races as he has had an outstanding beginning to the season. "I booked my first two pro victories, so I have made a big step, I think. I felt really good the last two days. In January, during the training camp with the team, I already felt I was getting better and better. This is very nice,” concluded Goossens.
