Yet another second place for Kaden Groves at the Giro d'Italia. Initially he crossed the line in third place, but due to Tim Merlier's relegation he moved up one spot in the day's results. Not that that changed much for the Australian from Alpecin-Deceuninck, who wasn't even close to today's winner Jonathan Milan.
After Groves thanked his team for the proven work, he discussed his sprint in conversation with Eurosport. "I was happy that I got around to sprinting. The speed was very high and it was very hectic. I think it was Jasper Stuyven or someone else from Lidl-Trek who knocked me out of Jonathan Milan's wheel. As a result, I was in the wind a lot during the last 500 meters and that really bothered me. They did that well."

Groves doesn't want to mourn for too long about another missed opportunity. "It is of course disappointing not to win, but the performance is good and I feel I am in good shape. We keep our heads high and we will continue to focus on the stage win. We believe it will come."
And the Australian may not have to wait for too long to have another shot at stage victory. Stage 12 will likely go to a breakaway, but stage 13 will present another great opportunity for fast men before a block of four stages that will shape the final GC.
