Julius van den Berg saw teammate Marijn van den Berg triumph in the Tour de Pologne this afternoon. He was not surprised at all as he tells Wielerflits in post-race interview.
"This was the plan. Yesterday he already competed for the win on the flat and on the steep climb he finished fourteenth. Confirming he can get over a hill."
With a view to the Vuelta, this should give confidence, thinks the older Van den Berg. "He has to take stages at Vuelta. That must be his goal. I think it is certainly possible, if you see what he can already do in the WorldTour."
Julius himself already won a stage in the Tour de Pologne in 2021. "Now we are even," he jokes. "Those Van den Bergs come from a good family, you know." No kidding: "No, I get along with him."
