After spending 10 days in Pink and securing a first Grand Tour top 10 finish at the 2022 Giro d'Italia, Juan Pedro López is now set to debut in the Tour de France. "My debut on the Tour is missing and this is the year to do it."
After riding the Giro last year and the Vuelta the 2 years previous, Lopez admits he didn't originally plan to go to France this season. "The team proposed to me to be in France and that idea, at first, did not cross my mind," he said. "Then I thought about it coldly and said that it was the year. At least, you have to run the Tour once in your life."
The Trek - Segafredo rider famously stormed to victory atop Mount Etna earlier this year, reflecting on his success he admitted it was a life-changing experience. "Now more people know me," he says. "Also my renewal with Trek until 2025. With this, I push myself because the team has trusted me and I in them. Now, I hope to demonstrate that confidence."
As mentioned, Lopez recently extended his contract until 2025 with Trek - Segafredo. "For me, it is a good moment" he announces. " I think that Spanish cycling is going to give us a lot of joy in the next five or six years."
