Jonathan Milan takes first stage win in CRO Race for Bahrain Victorious

Jonathan Milan has won the first stage of the CRO Race. It was a long ride with more than 220 kilometres to cover. He steadily increased the gap in the final two kilometres and maintained the lead till the finish line to take the stage win.

The breakaway consisted of Kenny Molly (Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB), Marcin Budzinski (HRE Mazowsze Serce Polski), Mathias Reutimann (Team Vorarlberg), Jernej Hribar (Ljubljana Gusto Santic) and Jaka Špoljar (Adria Mobil). The group took a lead of 3 minutes over the peloton.

The weather was not favourable for riders. It showered for hours with some intervals. The breakaway was caught up in the final 10 kilometres. Jonathan Milan steadily increased the pace in the final kilometres and maintained the lead till the finish line. Sacha Modolo out an aggressive display of power in the end but can’t beat Milan and finished second. Mirco Maestri took the bronze.
