Jonathan Castroviejo wins the men's time trial at the Spanish Championships for sixth time in his career

Jonathan Castroviejo has won the Spanish men's time trial at the National Championships for the sixth time in his career.

The INEOS Grenadiers rider, with a time of 36:44, beat Oier Lazkano, from Movistar Team, by three seconds (36:47) and Lluis Mas, Lazkano's teammate, 3rd with 36:50. Juan Ayuso was the big negative surprise of the day, missing out on the podium with a time of 36:52.

At the first intermediate point, Lazkano led the race with a time of 24:26, followed by Jonathan Castroviejo, one second behind, and Ayuso, 13 seconds behind with a time of 24:39. It was finally the INEOS Grenadiers rider who rode best in the final kilometres of the course to win his sixth Spanish men's time trial title at these national championships.
