Jhonatan Narvaez and Milan Vader end final race with INEOS & Visma in crash disaster

With the 2024 season almost complete, riders across the peloton are embarking on the final races in their respective teams before transfers ahead of the 2025 campaign. For some notable names at the Tour of Guangxi, things ended in disaster as following a crash in China.

One of those was INEOS Grenadiers' Ecuadorian national champion, Jhonatan Narvaez, who is set to join the all-conquering UAE Team Emirates on a two-year deal. "Sadly following a second crash in consecutive days, Jhonatan Narvaez has been forced to abandon the 2024 Tour of Guangxi. He will be checked over by our medical team following a knock on his knee," writes the INEOS Grenadiers' official social media pages. "A tough way to end his final race for the team, but the last six seasons have been a real pleasure. Thanks Jhony!"

Another rider to end their season and their time at their current team with a crash was Team Visma | Lease a Bike's defending Tour of Guangxi champion, Milan Vader. The 28-year-old Dutchman is set to depart Visma after three seasons, for a new challenge at the ambitious, Swiss continental team, the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

"Unfortunately, Milan was involved in the early crash and abandoned the race with an injured knee. More info will come later," updated Team Visma | Lease a Bike's official social media pages about the Dutchman's condition. "We wish you a speedy recovery, Milan!"

In the end, victory on stage 3 in China went to Israel - Premier Tech's Ethan Vernon in a thrilling bunch sprint finale ahead of Narvaez's future UAE Team Emirates teammate, Juan Sebastian Molano.
