Jake Stewart aims for World Championships after a disappointing Vuelta a Espana - “I'm trying to carry the good legs into the Worlds"

Jake Stewart is gearing up for the World Championships in Wollongong, Australia. After failing to complete Vuelta a Espana and Tour of Britain, the rider is looking forward to proving himself in World Championships.

Stewart has been down on luck in the last few weeks. First, he had to abandon the Vuelta a Espana due to his ill health, and then when he was performing once again in the Tour of Britain, It was canceled due to Queen’s demise.

"I've had to do it plenty of time this year with illness and whatever," he told Cycling Weekly. He continues, "Leaving the Vuelta was a bit of a kick in the teeth, but at least I was able to come to the Tour of Britain. It's still good to get some race days in before the World Championships. That's the main objective.”

He is part of the national team representing the country in the World Championships along with seven other riders. “I'm trying to carry the good legs into the Worlds," said Stewart. He last raced in World Championships in 2019 under the U23 squad. Stewart is quite excited about his return. "It's nice being back in the national team, having six British lads here, it's always nice. Especially with Sam and Connor. It's always a nice dynamic," concluded Stewart.
