In an interview with the newspaper El Comercio, Iván Cortina revealed things are not going well between him and the team. Cortina expressed the difference between him and the team is having a negative impact on his performance.
Spanish rider ruled out any possibility of his attendance in Vuelta a España. "In principle, the team is not counting on me," said Cortina. He continues, "But I have to accept the technical decision. Now comes an alternative calendar which, although not as motivating as the Tour, offers me opportunities to do well."
Although he hopes the team will give him a chance in
European Championships and the World Road Championships. "They are routes that can suit my conditions very well.In principle there will be several races in Spain, like the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, Getxo, and the Vuelta a Burgos. There are also several one-day races like Plouay and the Canadian classics, but I still don't know if I will be able to compete in them. It depends on what the directors say,” concluded Cortina.
