Jan Bakelants won the last stage of
Tour de Wallonie. He took a lead of over a minute which he maintained till the finish line.
He launched a solo attack 21 kilometers before the finish line and continued to increase the lead by over a minute till the final kilometer. He finished the stage with a lead of more than 1 minute and 5 seconds.
Bakelants last victory was in 2016, making the event quite memorable. "This victory is proof for old riders to keep believing after so many difficult years. Today I worked hard for the team. I wanted to launch Lorenzo Rota for the sprint. But I made the gap. This victory is incredible, beautiful,” said Bakelants.
