Joining Movistar Team in 2024, Remi Cavagna is keen to showcase his talents in the Spring Classics and the 28-year-old has made Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders in particular, big targets of his for the coming year.
“Paris-Roubaix will be a pleasant discovery. It is a course that attracts me," the former long-time Soudal - Quick-Step stalwart says in quotes collected by Wielerflits. "I would like to get to the start without any pressure, to see what I can do. It's been a long time since I rode on cobblestones.”
Having never ridden Paris-Roubaix or the Tour of Flanders during his time with the 'Wolfpack', Cavagna hopes his move to Movistar will unlock more significant, individual opportunities during his initial three-year contract with the Spanish-based team.
Cavagna already has a clear plan in mind for his Classics preparation. "I would like to contest one or two semi-classics in the run-up to the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix," the former Vuelta a Espana stage winner concludes. "It is good to get a feel for the cobblestones again in a slightly less important race, such as Gent-Wevelgem."
