Netherlands select a compact group of riders for Val di Sole World Cup

National coach Gerben de Knegt has his selection ready for the Cyclo-Cross World Cup that will be held in Val di Sole next weekend. The Dutch delegation is limited, many riders informed the national coach that they would skip the race.

De Knegt: "That is due to a combination of factors, it is actually a sum. This is actually the time for many athletes to rack up kilometers on the road in the sun, towards the busy Christmas period but certainly also the championships. The fact that even Pim Ronhaar, who is second in the World Cup, makes that choice indicates that many riders see it as a must."

"Moreover, Val di Sole is logistically and therefore also financially difficult, you spend a lot of time on the trip. And a few also mention that there were many falls on an icy course last year. If you have to choose one weekend for a break, for many athletes it will be this one."

Dutch men selection for Val di Sole World Cup:
Joris Nieuwenhuis, Ryan Kamp, Corné van Kessel, Stan Godrie and Klaas Groenen

Dutch women selection for Val di Sole World Cup:
Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, Puck Pieterse and Manon Bakker
