INEOS Grenadiers have been betting on youth consistently, and yesterday they have announced another signing, with junior rider Michael Leonard taking a direct step into the Elite ranks from 2023 onwards.
“... I’m excited for the opportunity to learn in what I think is the very best team both in terms of riders and staff," Leonard said in a press release. "The Grenadiers have a lot of experience in winning big races so I’ll get to learn from the best, which will be fantastic."
It is no coincidence that the Canadian rider has attracted the attention of the top teams, seeing as this year with the Italian Team Franco Ballerini he has taken a total of eight wins, all of them sol, and amongst a full field of Italian riders.
He is looking to transform himself into a climber at the top ranks and will be working towards becoming a Grand Tour contender the team explained. Alongside Leo Hayter and Thymen Arensman, Leonard' signing is thinking directly of the team's future over the coming years in the stage-races.
