Ready for next week, guys⁉️ #Tota lly! 🏔️👊
Geraint Thomas won the Tour of the Alps back in 2017 and Pavel Sivakov took the glory in 2019. Both return to the Italian race as two of the contenders for INEOS Grenadiers, who come in with goals of preparing their Giro d'Italia block.
The British team continues to have an incredibly high budget in the peloton, but without Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel they have not been achieving their success of the past. They continue to have big numbers though and will go into the Italian stage race with depth, having four potential leaders who will also be racing in the Giro d'Italia.
Thomas and Sivakov will hope to build some form into the Corsa Rosa, whilst it is more likely that Tao Geoghegan Hart may assume a more leading role, having delivered podium results at both the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana and Tirreno-Adriatico recently. Thymen Arensman, third in last year's overall classification, starts with the number 1 on his back. Laurens de Plus, Ben Swift and Salvatore Puccio complete the lineup in what is expected to be the majority of the Giro team.
