Lotto-Dstny is once again featuring
Caleb Ewan and
Arnaud De Lie as they set off for another major classic. The Belgian team will field both sprinters in Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday.
Despite coming close on multiple occasions this season, Ewan has not yet been able to secure a win. “This match has a lot of history and is important for the team and also for me. Winning in Flanders is always special. Many sprinters have won here in the past. It is no longer a typical sprinter's race and a lot will depend on the weather on Sunday, but I am looking forward to it and will put my best foot forward,” he told Indeleiderstrui.
With three victories to his name already, De Lie has been just as impressive as Ewan this season. Despite a subpar showing at Milano-Sanremo, he will be striving to achieve a podium position. “I'm completely back to my old self. I look forward to racing again. It might be a very tough game, but I like it. I really hope that we can put in a strong performance with the team.”
While it might seem like Ewan and De Lie will be battling each other for the win, Ewan has stated that this is not the case. Moreover, Ewan has expressed that he feels more at ease having De Lie on the team. “No, we're not rivals. It even gives me some peace of mind. I'm not the only leader, not all the pressure is on my shoulders. We are two completely different sprinters and our only ambition with the team is to win on Sunday, whoever does that doesn't matter,” he concluded.
