Magnus Cort had all the reasons to smile at the end of the last stage of the Arctic Race of Norway. After coming 3rd and 2nd the days prior, the Danish rider from Uno-X Mobility not only won the final stage, he also secured his overall victory.
It was an exciting day for Cort. A strong early breakaway of six rode a nice lead and with Jonas Gregaard there was a rider who still posed a threat to the general classification. "I got a bit nervous," he admitted in a post-race interview. "They were very strong in the leading group. I think we chased with about 30 riders, but we just managed to keep up with them."
"I felt good all day. I was confident that I could secure my final victory, but I didn't know the stage," Cort continued. "In the end, I took both. I have to thank my teammates, they did so well. It's almost unbelievable how fast they can ride."
Next up for the Dane is his home 2.Pro stage race, the Tour of Denmark, where he'll attempt to improve on the third spot overall from last year's edition, losing only to Lidl-Trek's leaders Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen. Lidl-Trek seems to be sending only their development team for the race this year, which means that odds play in Cort's favor. Especially as his form appears to be on spot at the moment.
