"I knew this finish should suit me" - Incroyable Marianne Vos wins second stage at La Vuelta Femenina, virtually confirming her Points classification victory

Marianne Vos has claimed her second victory of this year's La Vuelta Femenina on the seventh stage which brought riders to Sigüenza. The rider of Team Visma | Lease a Bike outsprinted everyone on the steep final climb and cemented her lead in the points classification.

"When the girls do so much work for you, you also want to finish it off," Vos said in press release. "I knew: if I'm in the front and have good legs, it's a finish that should suit me."

"Yet, there is a certain tension because it’s a tough finish and it's the seventh day. I tried to follow Kristen and Elisa and felt it would hurt. At 200 meters I put an extra acceleration and saw that no one could follow."

Sunday will be the long-awaited queen stage - the final chance to shake up the standings. For Vos, this stage will be mainly about arriving safely to Puerto de Cotos while supporting Visma's main GC card in Riejanne Markus, third overall.
