Cian Uijtdebroeks managed to maintain himself well with the classification men, despite the fact that he had suffered a lot on the way with echelons, and a climb that was tad bit too steep for the young Belgian climber.
"It was a very tough stage, with all that wind. Let's just say that's not my greatest talent," Uijtdebroeks laughs at Eurosport. "I was always in the second group, which was not ideal, but not too bad either. Last year I was dropped first in the echelons, so I'm getting better at it. It was suffering all day, with the climb being a little too punchy for me. It wasn't bad though and I felt much better than yesterday, so that's good."
The rest day will be celebrated at BORA-hansgrohe with a glass of champagne on Sunday evening. Lennard Kämna succeeded in winning the ninth stage. No surprise for Uijtdebroeks. "I saw Lennard go and already knew there was a good chance he was going to catch him. He's a great rider, especially in the break."
The 20-year old has a clear answer for his teammate, who is still struggling with the question of whether he is a classification rider or an attacker. "He rode for the classification in the Giro this year, but he better keep doing this. He's already had so many great victories this way and it's great for us to end the week like this."
