"I felt attracted to the project with such high ambitions" - DS Maxime Monfort makes switch to Lidl-Trek next year

Maxime Monfort will start a new chapter in his cycling career on January 1 as sports director at Lidl-Trek. He has been active in the Lotto team for the past decade: 6 years as a rider and 4 years as a sports director.

"I've always kept in touch with the Trek family since I left the team 10 years ago," Monfort said in a Lidl-Trek press release. "In recent weeks, contacts became more 'professional' and we talked about a possible collaboration. I felt attracted to the project with such high ambitions."

"A great working environment is the key to success for me. I hope to bring to the team the experience I have gained over the past 4 years as a sports director. Each team works in a different way. For me, communication between the riders and staff is important."

In the statement released by Lotto - Dstny, Monfort called it 'the most difficult decision of my career'. "I weighed the pros and cons and talked to a lot of people. I leave behind a healthy team with a bright future and a very competent manager. I would like to thank Lotto very much for the past 10 years."
