"I can't get enough of Van der Poel, I think it's so wonderful what he does" - Experts are blown away by Mathieu van der Poel's performances

Mathieu van der Poel's dominant showing at Tour of Flanders left many cycling fans impressed and Roxane Knetemann, guest of Today Inside talk show, with Johan Derksen were no exceptions.

"I can't get enough of Van der Poel, I think it's so wonderful what he does," said 75-year-old Derksen, a big fan and admirer of the current world champion. "He rides up that climb and then he just goes. And then he cycles them off. Of course you already know that he is going to win."

Knetemann agrees with what Derksen stated. "He really is a phenomenon on a bike," said the 37-year-old NOS analyst. "He is explosive, has a lot of power and he can also recover very well from tough races."

Derksen then indicates that he thinks it is a shame that Van der Poel is not a GC rider. "For example, he can never win the Tour de France." Knetemann responds: "I find that so special that people always want a rider to be a GC rider. If you can do what Van der Poel can do, incredible. He can win any Monument. Then you don't want to be a GC rider, do you?"
