"He is too limited in the time trial and too explosive for that" - Boonen and Bakelants comment on Pidcock's Tour de France chances

Tom Pidcock is having a great season start, the INEOS-Grenadiers rider has been showing good legs along the early races of the season. Pidcock has a dream, to win one day the Tour de France, and the fact is that he already did interesting performances in the top mountains so will he one day achieve his dream?

"No, he is too limited in the time trial and too explosive for that, Ineos will have a good idea of Pidcock's wattages and abilities. Starting a Grand Tour as a favorite will be difficult for him. But if it goes along in certain scenarios, it can be done", commented ex-rider Jan Bakelants in the Cycling Club Wattage.

Tom Boonen also shares Bakelants opinion stating that Pidcock can still wear the yellow jersey for some stages.

"I don't think you can put him next to those other 2 or 3 bigger riders in terms of his capabilities, but with his race intellect and daring, he can suddenly have the yellow jersey around his shoulders in certain situations", the classics legend believes.

Tom Pidcock destiny looks more to be a monument's winner, and ex-cyclist's Dirk De Wolf even sees the Brit win someday the Paris-Roubaix.

"He can handle all the stages, from the Strade Bianche to Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Paris-Roubaix should also suit him with his qualities. He will win many classics in his career", he argued.
