🇮🇹 #Giro Unfortunately, @AleottiGiovanni cannot start today’s Giro stage as he tested positive for Covid. He showed some symptoms after the stage and was immediately isolated from the rest of the team. We wish him a speedy recovery 🙏🏻
The first rider confirmed to have Covid-19 in the Giro d'Italia peloton was diagnosed yesterday and this morning two more leave the Giro d'Italia. Giovanni Aleotti and Nicola Conci were unfortunate enough to get the virus and will not start stage 7.
Amidst such amount of cases tension will start to rise once again, as at least three riders from three different teams have tested positive in two days. Aleotti was meant to begin playing a key role with BORA - hansgrohe today as he was to support Aleksandr Vlasov and Lennard Kämna in the mountains.
Conci has been supporting Kaden Groves who has already won a stage. The Italian was present in what was the first breakaway win of the season in a World Tour race this year on stage 4 when the riders went up to Lago Laceno, he was on the attack in the final kilometers but arrived at the finish in fifth place.
