Following the shortened stage 13 of the 2023
Giro d'Italia, the expected general classification battle never really fully materialised. Although stage runner-up
Thibaut Pinot rose into the top 10.
There are hardly any differences in the general classification:
Geraint Thomas,
Primoz Roglic and Joao Almeida continue in the first three places with the same difference. Former Maglia Rosa
Andreas Leknessund however, has lost 7 seconds after fading towards the end of the final climb of the day.
The rest of the top 10, also almost unchanged: Damiano Caruso, who attacked at the end without luck, Lennard Kämna and
Eddie Dunbar who also tried a very late move follow at the same timegaps. They lost a few seconds to
Thymen Arensman and Laurens De Plus who lead the group up the final climb almost entirely by himself. Thibaut Pinot sneaks in thanks to his breakaway escapades so although he didn't get the win, at least he gains places in the general.
