Three days ago, Remco Evenepoel had been back in Spain, preparing for the Itzulia Basque Country. The Belgian champion had just completed a training at a race pace, yet the hardest challenge was only awaiting at the counter of local store.
The Belgian needed to refill some of his materials or supplies, however he found himself with no money nor credit card. Luckily for the Soudal - Quick-Step rider, four gentlemen arrived to his rescue.
Evenepoel is now making a 'small appeal via Strava to the four men who helped me out of financial need at the shop in Castells: you can come and have a drink at my expense in the REV shop in Schepdaal'. Judging from that gesture and the language in which Evenepoel made the appeal, it must have been Belgians who came to his aid.
