Enric Mas succumbs to injuries and abandons Critérium du Dauphiné

Enric Mas crashed during stage five at the Critérium du Dauphiné and the injuries on his left side of the body has left him unable to perform now that the race reached the mountains, and he has opted to not start on the final day of the race. 
Mas was sitting in 13th place at the time of the incident however he managed to finish the day in the peloton. Battered and bruised, he got dropped yesterday at the Col de la Croix de Fer and dropped out of GC contention. Teammate Carlos Verona brought the win for the team, making it a successful day nevertheless.
Mas has announced this morning he would not be starting the final day, so as to recover. The Spaniard will be targeting the Tour-Vuelta double such as last season and will be looking to make his final preparations for the Grand Boucle over the coming weeks.
