After
Matej Mohoric's statements at the end of
his winning Milano-Sanremo performance, the UCI has given an update concerning dropper seatposts and their use, specially as it's use may become popularized by Mohoric.
After the Slovenian made his winning move on the descent off the Poggio di Sanremo, he did not only rely on his brilliant descending skills, but also on a mechanical advantage that had been in the works for months: "I knew with the dropper post I had big advantage, I tested it many times in training, I knew exactly how to use it and I knew it was very hard for whoever was going to be behind me to keep up."
There was an update on the allowed regulation for the use of dropper seatposts by the UCI, clearing that it is allowed under specific settings: "The UCI Equipment Commission approved the use of dropper seatposts in road cycling competitions in 2014. Their use is subject to the minimum 5cm setback rule of article 1.3.013 of the UCI Regulations, i.e., when the dropper seatpost is set to its highest or lowest setting, the saddle setback must be in full compliance with article 1.3.013."
