Demi Vollering wins Dwars door Vlaanderen WE in a stunning final 10-kilometer attack

Team SD Worx rider Demi Vollering emerged victorious in the Dwars door Vlaanderen WE, having attacked in the last 10 kilometers and held onto her lead to cross the finish line in first place. Chiara Consonni took the silver medal, while Marianne Vos completed the podium.

The trio of Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, Victoire Berteau, and Francesca Barale broke away and established a lead of more than one minute while Demi Vollering and Marianne Vos were among the riders chasing behind.

With 43 kilometres left, Vos and Marlen Reusser successfully caught up with the trio. Over the following 15 kilometres, Ludwig and Berteau fell behind, leaving only the duo of Vos and Reusser in front. However, they were also caught by the chasing group 16 kilometres before the finish line.

As the race approached its final 10 kilometres, the majority of teams had their best rider positioned near the front. Vollering made the first move, using her time trial abilities to create a 10-second advantage.

Despite multiple attempts to catch her, including an attack by Vos, Vollering remained out of reach with a lead of 30 seconds and crossed the finish line to secure her second victory of the season. Chiara Consonni finished second and Marianne Vos completed the podium.
