Cofidis part ways with rider due to “disloyal behaviour”

Cofidis has announced the immediate termination of Alana Castrique’s contract, citing “disloyal behaviour” that they say has damaged the image and integrity of the team. The decision comes after it was revealed that the 25-year-old Belgian rider, who won the Belgium National Gravel Championships in 2024, will be joining the AG Insurance – Soudal cycling team.

The split appears to be fuelled by growing tensions between the two teams and the rider, following the news of her transfer to AG Insurance – Soudal. Although limited information has been released regarding the specific actions deemed "disloyal," the announcement of her upcoming team switch for 2025 seems to have played a major role in Cofidis’ decision to part ways with Castrique abruptly.

This marks the end of Castrique’s time with Cofidis women's team, a relationship that has now been overshadowed by this less than amicable separation.
