The first day of the
Women's Tour was quite eventful with a long neutralization throughout the stage, and a time neutralization for the final three kilometers. In the end of such a chaotic day, the winner emerged to be
Clara Copponi of FDJ-Nouvelle Aquitaine-Futuroscope.
The Italian was the first to cross the line on the opening day and is the first leader of the British race. The finale saw a major crash close to the win. It was a slight uphill bunch sprint in Bury St Edmunds that saw Copponi emerge victorious, beating
Sofia Bertizzolo and
Elena Cecchini to the line.
