You seem to be inverting the logic for your own routine sake of argument bullying. I already said earlier that road etiquette dictates respect of space.

Or perhaps he was trying out a bike with the new technology that Visma have been hinting at, and didn't want riders noticing it before Visma unveiled it?

Do you know anything about pro cyclists’ insurance and contract clauses?

NO. In the video you can watch the amateur rider far away, about 200 meters from him. He crashed descending ALONE. I think the problem arose when another amateur took photos of him on the ground: the world was going to know that he crashed. Perhaps the frustration of the moment led him to blame the first amateur. My perception.

I think they're over milking this story. Or did the guy actually hit and cause Jonas to crash?

Yes, the timing of his decision was wrong because Visma couldn't hire another climber to replace him. But beyond details and secondary causes, IMHO, the main reason is he's lost the motivation to continue. He did the very best he could in 2025, winning epically the Giro and winning one stage of the Tour. So why keep going? no more goals.
