Chloe Dygert has called off her remaining season. The rider is due for another surgery after her last surgery failed to remove the extra scar tissue.
She took to social media to explain why she was getting another surgery. "During my accident in 2020, eighty percent of my quadriceps was completely cut, and the iliotibial band was partially torn. In the healing process after the operation, a large amount of scar tissue has formed that has left me in a constant state of pain, on and off the bike," Dygert wrote on her Instagram post.
Post-surgery she was in a constant state of pain, she was operated on for a second time to remove the extra tissue causing the pain, but it was not successful. "After I competed in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, I had surgery for the second time to try and remove the tissue because the pain was unbearable. It was unsuccessful. I almost planned another operation in January, but because it would be a long recovery process and I knew I wouldn't do any additional damage, I wanted to finish this season."
Dygert has been facing one obstacle after another, and She only raced one time before learning of Mononucleosis,“ After a month, I got mononucleosis, after which I spent the entire spring recovering from it, hoping to finish the season. Recent blood tests have shown that I am still battling this virus. So the decision was made to end my season and do the surgery as soon as possible. That way, I can start 2023 without pain in my leg,” concluded Dygert.
