Antonio Tajani, Italian Foreign Minister, has said that "if the situation permits, the next edition of the
Giro d'Italia will start from Ukraine. That would be a signal of attention from a country that we support very strongly.
The Eastern European country is currently in the midst of the most brutal war in Europe since World War II as it is defending itself from Russia. The European Union have largely been supportive and crucial in it's support for the largest European nation and Tajani confirms that it is a possibility to see the Giro begin there next year. Whilst Russia continues to wreak havoc and destruction in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, Kyiv is now under protection of advanced air defense systems, whilst the city of Lviv by the Polish border could also be a prime contender for this.
